Month 5 In Review

Heads Up! (Kennedy)

The girls love their play gym! Kennedy (L), Kamryn (R)

Kennedy chillin' in her Bumbo seat.

Checking out her favorite toy...her big sister.

Heads up! (Kamryn)

Kamryn LOVES the Bumbo seat!

Daddy and his little bald babies.

All three girls snuggling on daddy's lap watching SportsCenter (of course).

"I'm gonna punch ya!"

I had a little piggy photo shoot. I just LOVE their little feet!

Big sister likes to gete in on the play gym action too!

Jayla, Mila & Kai at the Jelly Belly Factory.

Another fun-filled month at the Jackson Circus lol! All three girls are healthy and happy. Life is great!!!

We are able to cross another "OLOGIST" off the list. Kamryn and Kennedy had their follow-up hearing screening. That appointment was A LOT of work. Both girls had to be sleeping in order to be tested. I kept them up all morning (even tho0ugh they were begging a.k.a. crying for a nap). I got them nice and full, drove around Kaiser a few times and just knew they would sleep. Yeah right! As soon as we get in the testing room they are wide awake and super cranky. Luckily we got them calmed down and back to sleep and they passed the hearing test with flying colors. So...no more NEONATOLOGIST, CARDIOLOGIST or AUDIOLOGIST to see anymore. Woohoo!
The twins continue to change daily. I think they are trying to trick Lamarr and I. Their personalities have totally switched. Kennedy has become the social butterfly talking up a storm all the time and always has a smile plastered on her face. Kamryn has been more reserved and picky about whom she wants to talk to lol! If we didn't have the birthmark to tell them apart there is no way I would know which baby is which. The girls are really starting to reach and grasp for things. They are recognizing toys and love to bat at them. They have quite a grip which Kai learned about the hard way. I was in another room and I hear Kai screaming "Sister PLEASE LET GO!!!". I come in and find that Kamryn has gripped on to one of Kai's braids and is holding on for dear life lol!!! Luckily I was able to free Kai and give Kamryn a toy she could hold on to. Mommy to the rescue!
Kai is doing very well. She continues to love on her sisters all the time. She has recently started having tea parties with the girls now that they can hold on to things. She loves to make them pretend tea and have "girl talk" with her sisters. Too cute! She will be starting preschool next month. I am so happy for her! She needs to get out and be with her peers! I am also looking forward to the break! lol! Of course I am a little nervous about her starting a new school but she is such an outgoing and confident kid I know she will do fine. She is really looking forward to "Back to School" shopping. I am excited to. Of course I will have the camera ready!!!
We took our first family field trip this month. Aunty Mika and I took all the kiddos (YES ALL 6) to the Jelly Belly Factory. We had a blast. I was nervous about driving out of town with the girls by myself but they did great. I guess we can officially say that they have been out of town now lol! Even though it was only 45 minutes away.
Thank you for all of the continued prayers. We are so blessed!!!!

Best Big Sister Ever!!!

"I love being a big sister!"

Kai & Ken

Kai & Kam

Ken, Kai, Kam

"SMOOCHES"

I could not have asked for a more special relationship between Kai and the twins. Kai has always had this sort of "maternal instinct" lol! I remember buying her her first doll at 6 months old and she was attached. She dragged that thing everywhere and treated it like a real baby. She treats all her dolls that way talking to them and taking care of them. She is a little mommy to Kamryn and Kennedy. She wants to be involved in every aspect of their care from feeding them, to baths to changing diapers...even the poopy ones. She has her specific jobs like picking out their outfits for the days, combing their hair, etc. too cute! She "watches" them for me if I need to do something in another room and loves being in charge. She also LOVES playing with the girls. She is by far their FAVORITE TOY! She loves rolling around with them and especially loves showing them new things. I look forward to watching their relationship blossom as they get older. I know we will have some drama in the future with 3 teenage girls in the house so for now I will enjoy this lol! I pray they will always be super close!!!

Month 4 in Review

Kamryn Bailey all smiles!!!

Cheese! (Kamryn)

Kennedy Brynn...the serious one.

"Whatcha lookin' at?"

Out to brunch with our cousins. (Kamryn, Quincy, Kennedy)
Wow, month 4 was a month full of new things for the twins. The girls are now sleeping SIX HOURS each night! Hallelujah!!!! It is so nice!!! Lamarr and I are losing that "zombie" feeling that parents of newborns are all to familiar with. We have also found bottles that the girls like! This is a huge deal considering we tried 6 different brands before finally settling on ones that they will drink out of. 7th times a charm I guess lol! The girls are talking up a storm. Kamryn is our big talker. She will talk to people, dolls, stuffed animals, the ceiling fan, herself....you name it lol! She will even go back and forth with you like a real conversation. I need a baby talk translator! I would love to know what she is saying. Kennedy talks when she wants and to whom she wants...so typical of her. I continue to be amazed at how IDENTICAL twins have such different personalities. Kamryn continues to be very laid back. Feed her and change her and she is good to go. She can entertain herself pretty well but also loves to be played with. She is all smiles all the time. Kennedy is our serious baby. She gets right down to business. She wants to be fed on HER schedule and if you are a few minutes late she will let you know about it. She wants to be changed immediately with #2, I mean IMMEDIATELY. She smiles when she wants but don't tickle her or try to make her. This little girly can give some of the meanest looks. It is so cute!
These girls are all over the place! It is getting harder and harder to keep them on their tummies for tummy time because they have both mastered rolling over...and over...and over...and over. They will stay on their tummies when Lamarr and I are down on the floor with them but as soon as we get up, over they go...and then they smile about it like, "I'm the boss here". So funny. Lamarr and I spend a good portion of our day/night rolling around on the floor with all 3 girls. Life is good!
We got our first real laugh from Kamryn last Saturday. She is such a little ham. Is there any sweeter sound than that of your children laughing??? I sure can't think of any!
Kennedy's echochardiogram came back fine. The valve seems to have closed itself off and they could no longer hear any traces of a murmur. That was a very hard procedure to sit through, I definitely should have sent Lamarr! She will not have to have any more and will no longer be tracked by the cardiology department. YAY!!!! One more specialist crossed off the list.

Both girls will be going for a follow-up hearing screening. Both passed in the NICU but are going to be seen again just as a precautionary visit because they were so premature and were on ventilators. Please pray that all is well and that both girls have no hearing problems.

We are now off "house arrest" lol! That's what it felt like not being able to take the girls anywhere ha!ha! We still have to be cautious about where we go...no places with crowds, lots of kids, etc. but we have been able to do things like go on a picnic at the park, go over to g-mama's and g-daddy's, and go out to breakfast with friends and family. Kai is so happy to be out of the house poor kid! Things are finally starting to feel "normal".
Well I better run. One of the babies is crying...which means there will be two babies crying if I don't get there fast enough....TWINS!!!!!
Thanks again for the continues prayer!!!

I'm a SOCCER MOM (and daddy is the COACH)

"hey everybody, there's a plane!"

Purple Reighn in action!

"Daddy there is something in my eye!"
The Jackson 5 (the twons are in the slings lol!)

Kai and her friend Lorenzo from school.

Kai and her cousin Mila.

What a big girl!

All Star #6!!!
Awwwww, life is good. I am just what I have always wanted to be....a suburban soccer mom. All I need is the mini-van and the transformation will be complete. Kai's soccer season has started and she is the CUTEST little soccer player I have ever seen. She is on the team with two of her cousins (Kelani and Mila) and one of her friends Layla. Lamarr hadn't planned on coaching but when we showed up on picture day and found out our coach had quit on us he gladly took on the job. He is SUPER DADDY!!!!

We practice on Thursdays and have games every Saturday. The twins come along to cheer their sister on. Actually they sleep through the entire game but they look really cute lol!!!!

Kai really likes soccer. She is easily distracted, for example this past Saturday a plane flew overhead so she and half her team forgot they were playing a soccer game and stopped to point out how big the plane was lol!!!! 3 year old soccer is priceless!!!!

We have 4 more weeks of games and then it will be off to the next adventure for Kai Kai! If you want information on dates and times for the games email me. We would love to see you on the sidelines!

Physical Therapy is STILL fun....

"Hey I remember you from last month"

Great head control Kamryn!!!

Tummy Time!

Kamryn in the bumbo seat. "This is fun!"

Kennedy in the bumbo seat. What a big girl!
Another great physical therapy session! Praise God!!! Our physical therapist said she had just gotten a chance to read through my chart and learn about the amazing rollercoaster ride the girls had coming in to the world. She said to look at them she would have never guessed that it was so rough and is amazed at how well they are doing. That really makes a mama proud! She was very impressed. She says Kennedy is right on track with a 9/10 week old and Kamryn is pretty advanced...her gross motor skills are that of a 3-4 month old. I am so happy about this. Prayer Works!!!!!
Kai LOVES going to PT. You can see her running around in the background of some pics lol! She loves all the toys.
Amanda has warned us that PT is not going to be so fun in the next few months. She wants to really challenge the girls to help their progress and she says we are going to have to be comfortable with them getting a little frustrated. I know that will be a little hard but it will benefit them in the long run and my little munchkins are tough cookies! I really like Amanda and trust that we she wants the best for the girls. We have been so blessed to have such caring staff for our girls!

4 Month Well Baby Check-Up

Off to our 4 month Well Baby Check-Up

The twins had their 4 month old well baby check up today and I am so happy to report that things are going great. Our ped. is so happy with their progress! Kamryn is weighing in at a whopping 10lbs 1oz and Kennedy at 9lbs 12oz. I am so amazed a their weight gain because 1) the have acid reflux and spit up a good amount and 2) they refuse to eat more than 20oz a day no matter what I do lol! We have been given the ok to let them sleep 5-6 hours overnight in between feeds. Woohoo!!!!! We have been looking forward to this for a while!!!! The girls continue to struggle sometimes with their acid reflux. The reflux is an up and down thing. Sometimes we will go 2-3 days with just a tiny amount of spit up at each feed then we will have a day where they spit up all day. The good thing is the zantac is working and it is not burning when it comes up anymore. My girls could care less about the spit up now...infact sometimes I will look over and feel bad because they are covered in it but didn't cry so I didn't notice lol! Tummy time is going well and the dr. is pleased with their gross motor skills.

Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We need it and greatly appreciate it!!!!

Month 3 in review

A little tummy time!

Hanging out in our bouncers.

Our house is starting to look more and more like a daycare center lol!

We love our baby dolls!

Who needs a mirror when you are an identical twin?

Wow, month 3 went by so quickly....probably because Lamarr and I are pretty much in a sleep deprived state most of the time lol!!! The girls are changing so much from day to day. May 20th we saw Kamryn's first real (non-gas lol!) SMILE! All of a sudden she was reacting to us with a huge gummy grin. Heart melting! Little sister was right behind her with her first real smile on the 21st. The girls also started cooing this month. I love to lay next to them and just listen, I think they are talking to eachother...or to the ceiling fan. They LOVE the ceiling fan. On May 21sr Kennedy totally suprised herself by flipping from tummy to back. The look of shock on her face was priceless. I wish I would have had the video camera ready. I guess she wanted to beat her sister on this one. Kamryn started flipping over the morning of the 23rd. She can't let her little sister show off lol!

Our super poopers are back! (My girls are going to be so upset that I wrote about their bowel movements when they are reading this as teenagers lol!). This is a big deal for us though and something we have been asking you all to pray about. We have gotton over the grunting and constipation due to all of the iron intake. This means their bodies are absorbing and using the iron better and their little muscles are getting stonger. Woohoo! Watch out though...these girls can clear a room with the odor!

Our newest struggle is finding bottles/nipples that will work for the girls. The girls will only drink from the nipples that were used in the NICU. The NICU nurses were so nice, they loaded me up with TONS of these special nipples so I would have enough to get us through until we could transition. Well...the girls have been home over 2 months and they refuse to use anything else. My girls know what they want when they want it lol!!! I have bought 6 different kinds of bottles/nipples so far....no luck!

Kai continues to be an AWESOME big sister. She is so helpful and loves to hold, kiss and hug the babies. She says she is ready for the girls to get bigger so that she can play with them. We'll see how that all works out when they are drooling all over her toys lol!

Thanks so much for the continued prayer! We know we would not have made it this far without all of you!

Physical Therapy is fun!

Working with our new friend Amanda. She is our Physical Therapist.

This is pretty fun!

We had our first physical therapy appointment today and it went so well. In the NICU 28weekers and earlier automatically get referred to PT. Older babies are referred on an "as needed" basis. Our 29 weekers were not given a referral because they didn't feel they needed it but I talked to my ped and he made the referral just to give me peace of mind. They would not have been assessed again until 6 months adjusted (9 months old for our girls) and I just thought that sounded so late when we could catch potential problems earlier. My ped agreed...love that doctor!Yesterday was just an initial screening/assessment. The physical therapist said she was very impressed with the girls. They are 16 weeks...5 weeks adjusted and she said they are performing more like 8 weeks adjusted. They are cooing, tracking, recognize mama, pushing up and doing mock crawling. She said all of these things are very good (guess that tummy time at home is paying off!!!). She will see the girls once a month for these next 6 months. She gave me lots of exercises to do with them. One of the best things is she totally incorporated Kai in to all the activities. Kai loved the clinic and all the toys...especially the trampoline. She is upset that we don't go back for a month lol...KIDS! So...our PT actually suggested tummy sleep. This is of course not for overnight...but instead while an adult is awake and in the room to watch them. Since the girls are now strong enough to push up and clear their airways we are going to try to have them on their tummies as much as possible.

Help, my mom keeps making me take silly pictures.

Hello everyone it's Kennedy. My mom and dad don't know I am up and on the computer so please don't tell them. We need some help here!!! When daddy goes to work my mom and big sister Kai like to take silly pictures of Kamryn and I. We aren't old enough to talk yet so we can't tell her to stop and she isn't listening to our cries. Check out the pictures below and you will see what I am talking about.

Uh oh, daddy is coming...I better run!

Love,
Kennedy

Kennedy sneaking to get on the computer. Kamryn took the picture.

"I know I am small but I am NOT A DOLL!" (Kennedy)

"I am to heavy for this thing...get me out of here!" (Kamryn)

"This is Kai's doll bed, why am I in here and why are you taking pictured of it?" (Kamryn)

"Here I am in the doll pak n' play." (Kennedy)
