Well the initial report from Kamryn's heart and lung tests showed everything within normal range. Upon further review from a preemie cardiologist the doctors told me today that there is a small valve in Kennedy's heart that has not fully closed yet. This is something that happens right at birth for a full-term baby. There are many different kinds of valve closing issues you can have and apparently this is one of the really less significant ones and they expect it to fully close on it's own. Her primary doctors will be meeting tonight to discuss a plan of action. The doctor told me today that they will most likely do nothing and let it close on its own or they may need to give her a medication to help it to close. The absolute worst case scenario is surgery but the doctor said in all her time practicing she has never see it get to that and Kamryn would have most likely been showing other signs if it was something severe. The think that this tiny valve is what is causing her to still need the oxygen and is the cause for all the Apnea/Bradychardia spells.
Kamryn is doing very well today. She is eating like a pro (all bottles no more tube) and her oxygen saturation has been in the 90's. Woohoo! I will keep you all posted. Please continue to keep our family in prayer.
Thank you!
p.s. I know I am going to get in trouble from Nicolette for not posting any pictures with this blog entry lol! Sorry sis...more pics tomorrow...I PROMISE!
