Wow, I can't believe it's already been 5 weeks since delivery. I can still barely comprehend the fact that they will be 3 months old on their due date lol!!! The girls are doing very well. They are now 4lbs2oz each. They love to eat. I have a feeling they are going to be little piggies when they get home. Kennedy is still breathing all on her own and really seems to have mastered it. Kamryn is still on low flow nasal cannula and struggles a bit throughout the day. I am really praying that her little lungs get stronger so that we can wean her off so she can come home. The girls are now off the caffeine. They are still having the Apnea/Bradychardia spells but they aren't happening very often. They should be completely growing out of the A's and B's soon. I can't wait for that to happen because the spells are soooo scary!
We just started bottle feeding this week. It is really scary to bottle feed and is nothing like feeding a new born baby. Full term kids have the "suck, swallow, breathe" mastered when they are born. Preemies do not have this so they will suck and swallow over and over and forget the breathing part. They aren't able to pace themselves so you have to pace for them. I am learning how to do it but have lots of anxiety about it. Pray for me!!! In order to come home the girls have to be able to take all 8 of their feeds by bottle and have the feeding tube out. We will work on this over the next few weeks. Apparently sometime between 35-36 weeks it all just sort of clicks and preemies master it. I can't wait for that. One more step towards all of us being under one roof.
Big sister Kai is so excited at the thought of her sisters coming home. We have cu a big weekend planned. Saturday is her cousins' party and Mrs. Kim's baby shower and Sunday is our baby shower. Kai is one of the hostesses for our shower and she can't wait. In between all the events we made a stop at an awesome park. Enjoy the new pics!
